Peer Crit Feedback

My feedback was generally positive on the direction of my project, and people seemed to think my question/research was now defined enough to facilitate a good written and practical outcome. A common response was that this is something clearly linked to my own personal concerns as a practitioner and ultimately will benefit my practice.

Key points to consider in the development of my project:
  • Could I focus my project more by relating it to a specific genre or period of art and design?
  • How will I evaluate the two sets of images - rule-based and instinctual? (an exhibition, survey)
  • Try making images that purposefully break the rules.
  • Draw the same image/content with and without the rules. (this eliminates variables that could make the judging of these images more subjective to content and taste)
  • What kind of images do you want to make?
  • Make images for fun, be repetitive and start experimenting with media e.g. monoprint.
  • People preferred the question: Is an image more successful when formed according to rules of composition?
