- Using abstraction in a functional and meaningful way.
- Research into practical means of abstraction - simplification, visceral expression.
- Look at art movements e.g. Fauvism, Abstract Expressionism, Constructivism, Cubism.
- Research, HOW you can use symbolism, visual metaphor and surrealism to communicate complex ideas.
- Combining abstract image-making and conceptual means of problem solving/visual thinking -> pushing the boundaries of what can be functional and communicative illustration.
I am still interested in a lot of the statements and points of research from this initial proposal; however essentially I always knew that this would only be a more in depth extension of my essay last year.
Over summer I think I have found another avenue for research that could either by added to or replace these initial ideas that still relates to my practice in a similar way - giving me a fresh approach to this module. I would still like to use COP as a means to better understand and improve my own methods of image-making both practically and conceptually.
HARMONY
The concept of evaluating Harmony came from my love for simplistic composition, use of block colour and bold shape-work.
What is Harmony?
How do we achieve Harmony in image-making?
